Number of tiles required - Rectangle - Mensuration problem solver

Raman wants to cover the floor of a room with 3 m width and 4 m length by squared tiles. If each square tile is of side 0.5m (side of square), then find the number of tiles required to cover the floor of room. (hint :find area of rectangle first)

number of tiles required

width = 3
length = 4
side of square = 0.5
A =  l * w
area = 4 * 3
area = 12
So the area is 12


Number of tiles = Area of room / Area of a tile
side = 0.5
A =  a * a
area = 0.5 * 0.5
area = 0.25
So the area is 0.25
Number of tiles = 12 / 0.25
Number of tiles = 48

A plane figure with four straight sides and four right angles, especially one with unequal adjacent sides, in contrast to a square.

Rectangle Formulas :

A =  l * w

p = 2 * ( l + w )

l =  A / w

w =  A / l

d = sqrt( l ^ 2 + w ^ 2)

l = length
w = width
d = diagonal
p = perimeter
A = area
