Who covers more distance - Square - Mensuration problem solver

Anna runs around a square field of side 76 m, James runs around a rectangular field. The length of rectangle 161 m and width of rectangle 106 m. Who covers more distance and by how much ? (hint : find perimeter of square first)

who covers more distance

side = 76
length of rectangle = 161
width of rectangle = 106
p =  4 * a
perimeter = 4 * 76
perimeter = 304
So the perimeter is 304

length = 161
width = 106
p = 2 * ( l + w )
perimeter = 2 * ( 161 + 106 )
perimeter = 534
So the perimeter is 534
Distance covered by James = 534
James run more distance about = 534 - 304 = 230

Square Formulas :

A =  a * a

p =  4 * a

d = sqrt( 2 * A )

a =  p / 4

R =  sqrt( A / 2)

r =  sqrt( A / 4)

where,

l = length
w = width
d = diagonal
p = perimeter
A = area
a = side
R = circumradius
r = inradius
