Lsa, tsa and volume of triangular prism - Triangular Prism - Mensuration problem solver

The base of a right prism is a right angled triangle of sides 3 cm, 4cm and 5 cm (a,b,c). Let its base be 3 cm and the height of triangle be 4 cm. Its height is 8 cm. Find the lateral surface area and total surface area of the prism. Also, find the volume of the prism.


a = 3
b = 4
c = 5
base = 3
height of triangle = 4
height = 8
p =  a + b + c
perimeter = 3 + 4 + 5
perimeter = 12
So the perimeter is 12
lsa =  p * h
lateral surface area = 12 * 8
lateral surface area = 96
So the lateral surface area is 96
A = (1/2) * base * th
area = (1/2) * 3 * 4
area = 6
So the area is 6
tsa =  ( p * h ) + 2 * A
total surface area = ( 12 * 8 ) + 2 * 6
total surface area = 108
So the total surface area is 108
V =  A * h
volume = 6 * 8
volume = 48
So the volume is 48

Triangular prism Formulas :

p =  a + b + c

lsa =  p * h

h =  lsa / p

tsa =  ( p * h ) + 2 * A

A = (1/2) * base * th

V =  A * h

base = (2 * A ) / th

th = (2 * A ) / base
